Loupe Food App

Loupe is a new food app that connects gastronomes with local restaurants, earning them great perks in the process. These can include interactions with chefs, tasting menus, and more, making for a more involved dining experience.

Let’s face it, apps that focus on food trends in local areas – rather than rankings of impossibly far away / expensive / niche restaurants – could have come about a bit sooner. After Trip Adviser and other similar apps or platforms, food fans have been left waiting for something that helps pick out the edible gems in their local areas.

Local restaurants need steady, loyal patronage to survive. The global restaurant and hospitality industry is worth around $3.5 trillion, yet 60% of restaurants fail in their first year, while 80% go under in the first three years. Due to the incredibly hostile market that restaurateurs find themselves in, supporting local venues has unsurprisingly become popular among food lovers everywhere.

There are other benefits too. Supporting local restaurants – and also local shops and other businesses – has been proven to help keep more money in the local area. According to the Business Alliance for Local Living Economies (BALLE), up to four times as much money stays in local communities when it is spent in local businesses and restaurants.
But, if supporting your local food scene isn’t enough of an incentive, there are also some pretty cool perks that come with using Loupe. The app learns from your eating habits and suggests search results based on individual diners’ needs and wants. Coupled with occasional discounts and free food – and who doesn’t love free food? – Loupe is a celebration of all things local.
