Video communication made simple with ilos videos
New service ilos videos is a company that is aiming to bring video to the forefront of communication so that it sits side by side with other mediums such as email, SMS and audio communication.
Aside from being super annoying by using only lowercase letters (startups, listen: you may be innovating, but grammar is for everyone) the ilos concept is pretty cool. The team noticed that younger workers were still being handed hefty PDF documents to trawl through, when video would be a much easier method of sharing and communicating information.
The ilos team, led by Nick Stokman, have shown dogged determination to get to their position today. For starters, ilos videos is based in Minnesota, hardly anyone’s go-to U.S. location for tech innovation. Secondly, during their most recent funding round – which saw them raise $1.5 million – the team were forced to complete the round from a co-working space after their office landlord decided they would prefer to open an art gallery.
Video is a powerful means of communication that has, for a long time, been seen solely as a means of interacting with family, friends and co-workers across time zones, rather than sharing relevant information around a company office or workspace. The service is essentially a “capture and playback” platform with editing capabilities as well.
The main draw for using ilos videos seems to be that it is now possible to make excellent training videos rather than sub-par PDF documents. Reading through documents is a tedious, drawn out process – watching a video walkthrough is much easier. In the pipeline ilos has improved analytics and – more importantly – a mobile app, to make and share videos on the move. Basically, compiling extensive instructive documents for office sharing is dead – bring your organisation to life with ilos videos.
